At Skin Tight Med Spa, our microdermabrasion and chemical peels give patients the fresh, attractive, and youthful skin they deserve. These skin-care solutions are customized to resolve the skin issues that come about as a result of the aging process, genetics, and sun overexposure.
What is Microdermabrasion?
This treatment can painlessly treat rough patches, sun spots, age lines, acne scars, clogged pores, pigmentation issues, and other shallow scars.
During treatment, a stream of microcrystals is passed over the skin to achieve gentle exfoliation. As part of this process, the exfoliated skin cells are collected with suction for efficient disposal. In some cases, a diamond-tipped wand is used for exfoliation instead of microcrystals.
This process takes between 30 and 60 minutes to complete. No recovery time will be required afterward but avoiding direct sun exposure is recommended for a time.
What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical peels are exfoliating facial treatments that involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin of the face. This acidic chemical solution penetrates through the skin layers, and once the treatment is complete, the solution is removed from the skin.
The chemical solution used for a peel is customized based on the patient’s specific skin issues. The concentration of the chemicals in the peel is also customized. There are superficial peels, medium-strength peels, and deep peels.
- Glycolic Peel: This is a very popular alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peel that can penetrate deep into the skin layers. It offers a variety of benefits, including improvement of skin tone and thickness and reduction of dark spots, acne, and fine wrinkles.
- Salicylic Peel: This beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) peel can either be mild or applied in medium-strength concentrations for deeper penetration. It helps treat acne breakouts by reducing excess oil, unclogging pores, and reducing inflammation. This peel also addresses acne scars, melasma, age spots, and rough skin.
- Lactic Peel: This AHA peel is very gentle but is still powerful enough to provide deep cleansing of the skin. It specifically removes the top layer of the skin. It helps with clogged pores and acne by removing dirt, oil, and other impurities. It can also address fine wrinkles, age spots, and hyperpigmentation.

What to Expect After a Chemical Peel
After your chemical peel has been performed, the layers of damaged and dead skin cells gradually peel off, revealing fresh new skin that is free from blemishes.
Chemical peels require downtime. The exact amount of downtime required varies depending on the strength of the peel. The stronger the acid used, the longer it takes for the skin to recover. Some issues like redness, swelling, crusting, discoloration, dryness, sensitivity, and irritation can occur.
During downtime, the skin will be very sensitive to heat. Because of this, it will be very important to avoid long periods of sun exposure and to wear sunscreen with the proper SPF. Detailed instructions to help you through your recovery will be provided after your chemical peel.
Chemical Peel Cost
The cost of your microdermabrasion or chemical peel will primarily depend on the type of chemical peel chosen. During your chemical peel consultation, our team will go over the options available to you, go over the price, and discuss payment options.
