Kybella

Conveniently located to serve Acton and Boston

Kybella in Boston is a non-surgical minimally invasive method of fat reduction for the area beneath the chin. This area, commonly called the submental region, regularly retains stubborn fat. A series of injections in the region disrupts fat cells at the target site and destroys them. This results in effective volume reduction.

Kybella currently has FDA approval for treating the region under the chin. It is typically used to treat a double chin. Kybella does not require any incisions and can reduce medium to heavy fat effectively.

How Does Kybella Work?

Kybella is composed of a synthetic chemical called deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a synthetic form of bile acid produced naturally in the body. The function of bile acid in the body is to break down fat.

When synthetic deoxycholic acid is injected into the body, it kills fat cells in the area. The body gradually metabolizes and eliminates the dead fat cells over the next few weeks.

Am I a Good Candidate?

People looking for a non-surgical method of eliminating fat under the chin can benefit from Kybella. Firm skin with good elasticity and tone is essential for undergoing Kybella.

Kybella is not approved for candidates below 18 years of age. It is not recommended for pregnant women or nursing mothers.

People with a medical issue or infection at the surgical site, and those experiencing a bleeding problem or difficulty swallowing, are not suitable candidates. Kybella may not be appropriate if you have recently undergone facial surgery or are planning to undergo a facial procedure soon.

Your Kybella Consultation

We will talk to you about the Kybella procedure during a consultation to determine your desired results. We can then design a treatment that is specific to your needs.

During this consultation, we will ask you questions about your medical history and general health condition to assess if the procedure is right for you. Make sure to mention any medications that you may be taking to avoid adverse drug interactions. Conditions such as thyroid or swollen lymph glands should also be discussed.

How Is Kybella Performed?

Since Kybella is non-surgical in nature, pre-procedure preparation is minimal. You may be advised to wash your face before the procedure to lower any chance of infection.

The area of treatment beneath the chin will be marked in a grid format. Local anesthesia will be administered in the area to numb it, helping to avoid any pain or discomfort.

A precise pre-determined dosage of Kybella will then be injected according to the grid pattern. A maximum of 50 injections may be administered during the procedure. The general count of injections is 20 to 30.

Multiple Kybella treatment sessions may be needed depending on the desired results. In the case of multiple sessions, a period of at least a month is scheduled in between each session. Patients can have a maximum of 6 Kybella treatments under the chin.

Recovery and Results

No recovery time or downtime is needed after Kybella. After-effects such as minor redness, swelling, and bruising are normal and fade away with time.

During the period of healing, the treatment area may temporarily look fuller than before due to swelling. Desired results can be seen by 6 to 8 weeks, because by then, the fat cells have been filtered out of the body.

Kybella Cost

The cost of Kybella is determined based on the details of each patient’s situation. The number of required injections will play a role in the final price, as will the number of treatment sessions needed.
